The SmartPTT-based radio communications system provides an operational link between a dispatcher and staff performing current maintenance on pipelines and performing jobs of an increased danger level. It ensures uninterruptible communication for the personnel, easy coordination of crews and timely notification of emergency situations.

The SmartPTT-based radio communications system provides an operational link between a dispatcher and staff performing current maintenance on pipelines and performing jobs of an increased danger level.

  • Communication with each part of the pipeline being maintained involving all personnel.
  • Timely notification of all interested parties of emergency situations by voice and text messages, both on subscriber terminals on the conventional radio network and personal devices of the persons in charge.

Transceivers are installed along the pipeline that provide continuous coverage along the entire route of the pipeline and communications between the dispatcher and mobile subscribers and among mobile subscribers themselves. Each transceiver uses a single duplex pair to operate and supports operating on two logical channels. One logical channel provides operation in open line mode along the route being checked while the second is placed under local mode at each base station for the work of individual teams without taking up the common channel.

Using the corporate data transmission network the repeaters are linked to one another and interact under the control of the SmartPTT software. The SmartPTT server installed separately on the linear production control ensures voice and data transmission between mobile subscribers and the controller and in addition carries out the following functions:

  • Call routing between subscribers of different pipeline routes;
  • Integration of the radio communications system with the departmental telephone system;
  • Recording conversations and logging all system events;
  • Status monitoring and remote administration of repeaters.

A SmartPTT dispatch local console is set up on each linear production control and configured for the sections of the pipeline being serviced, and provides communications for the dispatcher with subscribers of their district.  Using the console the dispatcher can connect to selected groups of subscribers or make an individual call to a selected subscriber. SmartPTT displays the location of subscribers on a map, allowing subscribers to be automatically tracked when they enter or exit the boundaries of the designated area.
