Koltsovo international Airport is the biggest regional airport in Russia. In 2011 this airport served more than 3.4 million people.
Such a big airport needs all its ground services equipped with safe and operative communications for the benefit of passengers and airlines.
Existing analog radio network utilized by the airport didn’t meet company’s demands any more, which is why it required an upgrade: coverage area expanding, audio channel quality improvement, and radios functionality extension. Such options as expanding and modernization of analog network, TETRA solution, and DMR solution were considered. As a result, the DMR solution was chosen by the airport as cost-effective and meeting all airport’s requirements.
Due to its scalability, SmartPTT allowed creating a network covering all airport territory – inside the terminals and in the landing area.
