WEEE – Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment
1. Background
The European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) aims to prevent or reduce the adverse impacts of WEEE on the environment and human health. At the end of their life cycle, electronic products become electronic waste and, when misplaced or disposed of improperly, can present environmental and health risks.
Elcomplus considers the principles of sustainable production and contributes to preventing the generation of unnecessary WEEE. Our products are designed taking into account the possibility to repair, upgrade, re-use, disassemble, and recycle, while making technology and knowledge more impactful and accessible to users.
2. Recycling
If your Elcomplus product requires disposal, please follow the recycling instructions below for safe disposal within your country. Electronic waste must be treated in certified facilities where the technical requirements set out in Directive 2012/19/EU, Annex VIII are fulfilled and where re-use options are assessed prior to disposal.
As the possessor of an electrical or electronic device, you are responsible for its proper collection, treatment, and disposal at the end of its life cycle. Consult your local waste management authority for information on the nearest suitable facility or refer to the recycling instructions provided below.
Based on Directive 2012/19/EU §13(2), the costs incurred for proper collection, treatment, and disposal at the end of life shall be borne by the customer, unless applicable law prevents the parties from validly agreeing that such obligation rests with the customer.
In accordance with Articles 14 and 15 of Directive 2012/19/EU, electrical and electronic equipment must be marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. This symbol indicates that the device must not be disposed of with normal household waste but must be collected separately for proper treatment.
If possible, please remove old batteries, accumulators, and lamps from the WEEE prior to disposal.
Please note that deletion of personal data on devices prior to disposal is the sole responsibility of the end user.
For customers outside Europe, please dispose of WEEE in accordance with local regulations.
