Broadcast Calls §

One-way group calls which are implemented differently in MOTOTRBO conventional and Capacity Max.

  • In MOTOTRBO conventional, the calls are compliant with Tier II DMR standard; they have no hangtime and cannot be interrupted by voice from another party.
  • In Capacity Max, the calls that allow initiator-only transmissions, even at hangtimes; other parties cannot reply and interrupt the call.

Capacity Max §

Capacity Max is a multisite trunked radio system from Motorola Solutions. By design, the system is compliant with Tier III DMR standards, the most scalable and perspective MOTOTRBO system by far.

Console Administrators §

  • In SmartPTT, user role that allows advanced settings access and modification in Dispatcher Apps (like server connections, audio settings, etc.)

Console Operators §

In SmartPTT, user role that allows Dispatcher App access and use.

Database Administrators §

  • In SmartPTT, user role that allows database settings modification. To perform that for the Server, requires system administrator privileges. To perform that in Dispatcher App, requires console administrator privileges.

Encrypted Calls§

Calls with useful information (payload) like voice, GPS coordinates, texts of messages etc. being encrypted.

FOACSU §

Initialism of “full off-air call set-up”; DMR-compliant, particular case of individual voice calls that require both subscriber presence checkup and subscriber acceptance/declining the call.

Individual Calls§

Calls between two radio subscribers or between one radio subscriber and SmartPTT user.

Might be referred to as “private calls”. However, that may result in ambiguity with encrypted calls.

Individual Short Subscriber Identity (ISSI)§

Same as Radio ID. The term originates from TETRA standards. It is used in this Wiki sometimes for better differentiation of radio devices and IDs.

Local Area Calls §

In MOTOTRBO, local area call is the voice/data call that occurs within one of RF sites.

Sometimes, such calls might be referred to as “single-site calls” or “site-specific calls”.

If calls are initiated on multiple but not all sites, they are referred to as “multisite calls” or “wide are calls”.

MOTOTRBO Conventional §

DMR-compliant radio systems and topologies based on manual radio channel selection for telecommunications.

Private Calls §

Ambiguous term:

  • In MOTOTRBO, calls between two radio subscribers or between radio subscriber and SmartPTT user.
  • Some people may expect the term to mean “encrypted calls”. This is supported by MOTOTRBO terminology that refers to encryption as to “basic/enhanced/advanced privacy”.
  • Some people may expect the term to mean “confidential calls”, ones that nobody else hears. However, the confidentiality might be violated at open voice channel mode, channel monitoring, etc.

System Administrators §

Ambiguous term:

  • In SmartPTT, name of a role that is allowed to log on to the Configurator for any re-configurations except database settings.

Unaddressed Calls §

In MOTOTRBO, Unaddressed Call is a group call that might be associated with more than one “regular” talkgroup.

IDs of Unaddressed Calls are group IDs that range from 16777184 to 16777199.

Unaddressed calls are MOTOTRBO equivalent of patches.
