Verifying Signature Timestamps

At some point in the future, the signing certificate may expire. However, it is important that the file signing was made within the certificate validity timeframes. The instruction explains how to get those timestamps.

Prerequisites§

  • Unarchive the downloaded SmartPTT 26.01 or newer.

Procedure§

  1. Open the directory where you unarchive the SmartPTT.

  2. Right click the installation package file (EXE), and from the action menu, select Properties.

  3. In the window that appears, go to the Digital Signatures tab.

  4. On the tab, click Details.

  5. In the window that appears, go to the General tab.

  6. On the tab, in the Signing time field, view and learn the date when the file was signed.

  7. Learn the certificate validity time to ensure additionally that the signature is valid:

    1. Click View Certificate.

    2. In the window that appears, go to the General tab.

    3. On the tab, in the Valid from area learn the certificate validity timeframes,
    4. Ensure the signing time is within the learned timeframes.
