/ Creating Secrets for SmartPTT in Entra§

Purpose§

Follow the procedure if you create your first secret or you forgot the value of the secret.

Process§

  1. Access App Registrations.

    How to...
    1. In the left pane of the Admin Center, expand the Entra ID.
    2. Under the expanded area, click App registrations .

    List of apps and related controls appear.

  2. Access the SmartPTT-related application:

    1. In the right pane, select the Owned applications tab.
    2. On the tab, if appears, click View all applications in the directory.
      List of applications appears.

    3. In the upper part of the tab, in text search field, enter a fragment of the created app name. Then click the related app.

    Application overview appears.

  3. In the left part of the webpage, in the Manage area, click Certificates and Secrets.
    List of certificates and secrets appears.

  4. Add a new secret as follows:

    1. In the right part of the webpage, select the Client Secrets tab.
    2. On the tab, click New Client Secret .
      The Add Secret dialog appears on the right.

    3. In the Description field, enter the secret description.

    4. From the Expires list, select the proper secret validity interval. If no standard options fit, select Custom and set up your own validity interval.

      Warning

      • You cannot set up endless, non-expiring secrets.
      • SmartPTT does not track secret expiration and does not warn users about that.
    5. Click Add.

    Updated list of secrets appears.

    Danger

    If you skip the next step, you will be unable to get a value of the secret. You will have to create a new secret.

  5. In the list of secrets, in the entry related to just-created secret, in the Value column, click Copy  next to the secret value. Then paste it to the secure file of your choice.
