Telemetry Prerequisites§
DISCLAIMER
The article is about data acquisition and remote control functionality.
SmartPTT does not have a functionality related to user actions tracking, collecting, and sharing.
Radio ID Allocation§
MOTOTRBO Wireless§
If you are using MOTOTRBO wireless interface (control stations) to work with telemetry data, allocate Radio ID of a control station for Telemetry and other digital services you will use.
List of digital services
- Job Tickets,
- Location with LRRP,
- Location with LIP,
- Presence (a.k.a. ARS),
- Text Messaging,
- Telemetry.
NAI Data Interface§
If you are using NAI-capable interfaces (including Capacity Max) to work with telemetry data, allocate Radio ID of your MNIS application for Telemetry and other digital services you will use.
Non-NAI Wireline Interface§
SMARTPTT ENTERPRISE ONLY
The interface is available only in SmartPTT Enterprise, for IP Site Connect and Capacity Plus Single-Site.
If you are using non-NAI wireline interface to work with telemetry data, allocate Radio ID of your SmartPTT server for Telemetry and other digital services you will use.
Subscriber Setup§
Telemetry VIO Assignment§
In your CPS/RM, for required subscriber radios, assign Telemetry VIOs to GPIO pins.
R7 Example

In the image above, the following assignment is performed:
- Telemetry VIO #1 is assigned to GPIO Pin #1.
- Telemetry VIO #2 is assigned to GPIO Pin #3.
- Telemetry VIO #3 is assigned to GPIO Pin #4.
Note that different MOTOTRBO radios may have different number of supported Telemetry VIO numbers. Some models may not have them at all.
Call ID Setup§
Using CPS/RM, set up a call which type and ID is correct regarding to the SmartPTT interface.
| Interface | Contact Type | Call ID |
|---|---|---|
| MOTOTRBO Wireless | Digital | Radio ID of control station |
| IP Site Connect, NAI Data | Digital | Application ID of an MNIS |
| IP Site Connect, Non-NAI | Digital | Radio ID of a server |
| Capacity Plus, Non-NAI | Capacity Plus | Radio ID of a server |
| Capacity Plus, NAI Data | Capacity Plus | Application ID of an MNIS |
| Linked Capacity Plus | Capacity Plus | Application ID of an MNIS |
| Capacity Max | Capacity Max | Application ID of an MNIS |
Digital Contact Type

Statuses Setup, from Radios§
In your CPS/RM, for required subscriber radios perform the following actions:
- Assign Send Status action to proper Telemetry VIO.
- Set up the call target in accordance with the SmartPTT interface.
| Interface | Mode | Call |
|---|---|---|
| MOTOTRBO Wireless | Digital | Control station contact |
| IP Site Connect, Direct IP Int. | Digital | Server-related contact |
| IP Site Connect, NAI Data Int. | Digital | MNIS-related contact |
| Capacity Plus, Direct IP Int. | Capacity Plus | Server-related contact |
| Capacity Plus, NAI Data Int. | Capacity Plus | MNIS-related contact |
| Linked Capacity Plus | Capacity Plus | MNIS-related contact |
| Capacity Max | Capacity Max | MNIS-related contact |

No specific prerequisites.
NAI Interface Infra§
-
Ensure MNIS Application ID is the same as a call target in the subscriber radio configuration.

-
Ensure MNIS operation mode matches the radio system.
-
Ensure MNIS Telemetry UPD port matches that in the subscriber radio configuration.
