Enabling NLog for Dispatcher Apps

Prerequisites§

  • Allocate the proper time for NLog enablement due to the need for Server restart. Use backup servers if applicable.
  • Download NLog configuration file that enables the logging.
  • Download NLog configuration file that disables the logging.

Process§

  1. Navigate to the SmartPTT Dispatcher App installation directory. Default directory is as follows:

    C:\Program Files\SmartPTT\Client
    
  2. Overwrite the existing file with the one that enables the logging.

  3. Ensure you see a TXT file in the following directory:

    C:\logs\SmartPTT\Client
    

    This indicates the logging has started. 1. Detect the incident in the product behavior that requires investigations. Detect the time of its occurrence. 1. After the incident/issue occurs, overwrite the existing file with the one that disables the logging.

    Warning

    If you keep the logging enabled, the file will keep growing and exhaust the free disk space.

  4. Copy TXT files, one or several, from the following directory

    C:\logs\SmartPTT\Client
    

    to the proper storage to send it to the SmartPTT Support Center. and paste them to the proper location. 1. Collect all other data to send to the SmartPTT Support Center and report the time of the incident occurrence.
