Active Directory

Overview§

Active Directory (AD) is a Windows service primarily used for user accounts, account/password policies, and their membership in user groups. Group membership is a conventional way to manage user permissions.

SmartPTT supports authorization for Active Directory users using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

Benefits§

AD integration provides the following benefits to SmartPTT users:

  • Organizations manage users and their permissions in the centralized way.
  • IT personnel grants/revokes user access in the conventional way, enforce all the necessary security policies.
  • SmartPTT distributors reduce their time & cost expenses on security provision.

For integration with Active Directory, SmartPTT requires up to four user groups that correspond to up to four basic roles in the product.
