Local Area Calls§

Intro§

Local area calls are group calls initiated to all subscribers registered on the limited set of sites. Therefore, they are specific to multisite radio systems only.

The opposite to local area calls are “wide area calls” (also known as “system-wide calls”).

MOTOTRBO§

Learn how SmartPTT supports local area calls in multisite MOTOTRBO systems.

IP Site Connect. Local area calls are configured as All Calls for each local area channel. SmartPTT supports local area channels only at NAI interface.

Capacity Plus Multisite. Local area calls are configured as All Calls with specific Site ID. Configuration is required only to encode local area calls. For decode, only All Call setup is enough.

Capacity Max. Local area calls are configured as All Calls with specific Site ID. Configuration is required only to encode local area calls. For decode, only All Call setup is enough.


The following systems do not provide local area calls to SmartPTT:

  • Single Site Conventional. Not applicable due to the single site nature of the radio system.

  • Extended Range Direct Mode. Not applicable due to the single site nature of the radio system.

  • Capacity Plus Single Site. Not applicable due to the single site nature of the radio system.

  • Connect Plus. Not supported due to the protocol limitations.

DIMETRA§

DIMETRA does not provide local area calls for SmartPTT Express.

SmartPTT§

SmartPTT Enterprise. Supports local area calls for data calls only (text messaging). This include Local Area TMS Decode and Local Area TMS Encode.

SmartPTT PLUS. Supports local area calls for voice and data calls. This includes Local Area Voice Call Decode, Local Area Voice Call Encode, Local Area TMS Decode, and Local Area TMS Encode.
