Annual Updates

When purchasing a SmartPTT PLUS, SmartPTT Enterprise, or SmartPTT Express Core Package (required for all new systems), the first year of access to SmartPTT software updates and technical support is included. Additional years can be purchased on the front-end or they can be added annually. The date of access is based on when the license was purchased. Renewal dates are based on this date, not when additional access is purchased. For example, if a system is purchased on 12 Mar 2024, the initial access to software updates and support would expire on 12 Mar 2025. If updates are extended for one more year on 03 Apr 2025, the updates would expire on 12 Mar 2026, not 03 Apr 2026.

If access lapses, the time lapsed must be paid in arrears. This means that if access ended 12 Mar 2025, but the year from 12 Mar 2025 to 12 Mar 2026 is not paid, and on 27 Mar 2026 access is being reestablished, then the year from 12 Mar 2025 to 12 Mar 2026 must be paid for along with the period from 12 Mar 2026 to 12 Mar 2027.

Benefits of Current Access

There are numerous benefits to keeping access to SmartPTT’s software updates and technical support:

  • You will have ready access to SmartPTT technical support per the SmartPTT Terms of Technical Support.
  • You will have access to the latest features and enhancements available in new releases of SmartPTT. The new releases also support the latest release of Motorola radio and repeater firmware.
  • If you send a repeater into Motorola for repair, Motorola typically updates the firmware of the repeater. This new firmware may not be supported by the older version of SmartPTT. Having access to software updates, would give you access to the version of SmartPTT supporting the newer Motorola firmware version.
  • If you update a dispatch client PC and it has a newer operating system, the old version of SmartPTT likely would not be fully compliant with the new OS. Having access to software updates, would give you access to the version of SmartPTT supporting the new operating system.
